Obituary of Dorothy Mongibell

Dorothy (nee Jennings) Mongibell, 66, passed away peacefully on March 21st, 2015 surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born in East Orange, Dorothy lived in Nutley, for the past 32 years. She was a graduate of East Orange Catholic High School and Kean University. Dorothy began teaching in the Bloomfield Public Schools and finished her career working for the Essex County Commission at St. Thomas the Apostle School. Dorothy enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved the beach, New York City, dancing, and traveling. Dorothy’s greatest joy was her grandson, PJ. Dorothy was the beloved wife of Eugene; devoted mother of Shannon Szabo and her husband, Paul; cherished grandmother of PJ; loving sister in law of Carole Garrison. She was predeceased by her mother Mae Jennings, and her sister in law Doris Allen. Friends and family are asked to visit on Tuesday March 24 from 4-8pm, and on Wednesday March 25 from 10-11am, at Halpin-Bitecola Brookdale funeral and Cremation Service, 1284 Broad St in Bloomfield. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday March 25 at 11:00 at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
