Joseph B. Patella, of Bloomfield, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 10th 2015. He was 86. Joseph was born in Jersey City to the late Bartolomeo and Filomena Patella. Joe served his country honorably, in Korea, as a member of the US Army. Joseph was a long time season ticket holder for the NY Giants, and was an avid gardener. Joseph leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Susan, in 2012 and his two sisters Madeline Contestable, and Theresa Cianciotta. Friends and family are asked to visit on Tuesday January 13th, from 2 - 4 and 7-9pm, at Halpin – Bitecola Brookdale Funeral and Cremation Service, 1284 Broad Street in Bloomfield. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am, on Wednesday January 14th, at St. Thomas The Apostle Church, 60 Byrd Ave in Bloomfield, with interment to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
