Obituary of Carmelina Syracuse
Carmelina Syracuse, of Bloomfield, passed away on Monday, January 5th 2015 at St. Barnabas Medical Center. She was 82. Carmelina was born in Tripoli, Libya, North Africa. She worked as a bookkeeper and retired from Mutual Benefit Life in Newark, NJ. Carmelina was an active member of St. Thomas church in Bloomfield and involved with the “September Club”.
Carmelina was predeceased by her husband Nicholas in 1998. She is survived by her two sisters; Marcella Heisterkamp of Colorado, Maria Mifsud of Australia, and a brother Anthony (Nuccio) Mifsud of Australia. She was also predeceased by two sisters Maddalena, and Salvina, as well as two brothers, John (Giovanni) and Natale (Natu)
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am, on Friday January 9th, at St. Thomas The Apostle Church, 60 Byrd Ave in Bloomfield with interment to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington. Friends and family may visit from 4-8pm on Thursday, January 8th at Halpin-Bitecola Brookdale Funeral and Cremation Service, 1284 Broad St, Bloomfield, NJ.
