Obituary of Frederick Burns

                                                                     Cumming, GA

Frederick J. Burns, of Cumming, GA (formerly of Bloomfield) passed away on August 17, 2018 at the age of 86.  Born in Bloomfield, he lived in there until 1978 when he moved to Clifton.  In 1996, Mr. Burns moved to Whiting, NJ before moving to Georgia in 2011.  Mr. Burns was a Bloomfield Police Officer - Badge #72, retiring from the department in 1990.  Following his retirement, Mr. Burns worked for Automated Data Processing (ADP). 

Mr. Burns was a Korean War Veteran, and he served as a Firefighter in the United States Air Force from 1949 – 1953.  He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus with the St. Thomas Aquinas Council in Alpharetta, GA. 

Mr. Burns is predeceased by his first wife, Eileen Burns (Foley) and his second wife, Assunta “Sunny” Burns (Wanat) and his brothers, William, Richard and Robert Burns.  Surviving are his stepchildren, John N. Wanat and his wife Kathleen; his stepdaughter Linda S. Aiello and her husband Samuel.  Mr. Burns has three grandchildren, Thomas Wanat, Heather Hartman and Nicholas Aiello and two great grandchildren.   

Visitation will be at the Halpin-Bitecola Brookdale Funeral Home, 1284 Broad Street, Bloomfield on Monday, August 20, 2018 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on August 21st at 9:00 A.M. followed by a 10:00 A.M. Funeral Liturgy at St. Valentine’s Church, 125 N Spring St, Bloomfield, NJ 07003.  Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
