Obituary of Anna Formica

Anna Formica, of Bloomfield, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016 at her home. She was 98. Anna was born in Newark, was a loving mother, enjoyed cooking, and had a great sense of humor. She is survived by her beloved husband, of 73 years, G.Armando “Al”, and their loving children Roberta Kresky, and Armand Formica along with his wife Sharon. Anna was a Gold Star mother for a son Gary P. Formica who died while in combat in the Vietnam War. Anna also leaves behind six grandchildren, Anthony, Tiffany (Kresky), Michelle Kresky-Jordan, Debra, Michael (Formica), and Kimberly Barone, as well eight great grandchildren. Anna was pre-deceased by her siblings and a great grandchild. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 27, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Halpin-Bitecola Brookdale Funeral & Cremation Service, 1284 Broad St. in Bloomfield. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday January 28, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 60 Byrd Ave, in Bloomfield. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair, 712 Grove Street, in Upper Montclair. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Gary P. Formica Memorial Scholarship Fund. Checks to be made out to Bloomfield Board of Education, with a note on the check to the Gary P. Formica Fund.
